It’s a beautiful day in the Wrangells to celebrate and honor the men who make Ultima Thule The Best Wilderness Adventure and Bush Plane Safari Lodge in Alaska!
Today, just like any other day, the super cub engines were warming up right after breakfast and the adventures have already begun. Flying is the heart beat of Ultima Thule and Paul Claus is the life blood! He’s one of the most experienced and talented bush pilots in the world because he spends every day - day after day – in a bush plane. Sometimes we wonder if he accumulates more waking hours off the ground than he does on the earth during these vibrant Alaskan summers. Flying with Paul is an experience of a lifetime for our guests and family alike. A thrill that never ceases to amaze even those who ride with him often. Following in his own father’s footsteps, Paul has passed on the art of flight to his three children and is an invaluable mentor to pilots from all over the world.

On Father's Day we are also remembering our Pops – John Claus, The man who started it all. His spirit is living strong here in the Wrangells and we are constantly reminded of just how lucky we are now because long ago John realized the importance of this unparalleled wilderness.

The adventures of John, Paul and their family would fill a library. It’s these stories, shared around the dinner table at Ultima Thule, that make the experience at the Lodge so authentic and endearing to all.
The Ultima Thule Family encompasses many more than just the Claus’ however. Men from all over the world are a part of the adventure be they fathers or not. We love and appreciate them all more than we could say!
Today we are also excited to welcome back the majority of the Davidson Family who finally arrived for the summer! Steve Davidson is our Director of Maintenance – the man who keeps us in the air! He’s been working hard since January while his wife Patti and youngest son Rocky remained in Oregon for the school year. It’s a Happy Father’s Day for him to have his loved ones close again!
